BRIDGE

2 DAY PROCESS

A bridge is a fixed dental restoration designed to replace one or more missing teeth by permanently attaching an artificial tooth to adjacent natural teeth. The bridge spans the gap created by missing teeth and is anchored to the surrounding “abutment” teeth.

At Amazing Dental Care, two material options are available for bridge units: Zirconia and Porcelain Fused to High Noble Metal (PFM). The advantages and disadvantages of each option are detailed in the Dental Crown section above.

How To Care for a Dental Bridge

  • Avoid chewing hard foods, ice, or candy, as these may damage both the bridge and the anchor teeth.
  • Bruxism (teeth grinding) can adversely affect crowns and bridges. It is advisable to use a prosthetic aid, such as a night guard, to help minimize potential damage from grinding.
  • Consider investing in a high-quality dental Waterpik®. Flossing is not recommended around the bridge; instead, the Waterpik® will help maintain cleanliness in this area. Continue brushing as usual.
  • If you experience any discomfort or issues, consult your dentist promptly. Any pain should subside after a brief healing period. Persistent pain may indicate a high contact point on the bridge or improper gum healing, which could result in swelling. Please schedule a dental appointment if pain or irritation persists beyond five days.
